  • The objectives of this Zoning Ordinance are to promote the public health, safety and general welfare of Daviess County; to facilitate orderly and harmonious development in the visual or historic character of Daviess County; to regulate the density of population and the intensity of land use in order to provide for adequate light and air; to provide for vehicle parking and loading space; to improve the appearance of vehicular use areas and property abutting public rights-of-way; to require buffering between noncompatible land uses; and to protect, preserve and promote the aesthetic appeal, character, and value of the surrounding neighborhoods; to promote public health and safety through the reduction of noise pollution, air pollution, visual pollution, air temperature, and artificial light glare; to facilitate fire and police protection; to prevent the overcrowding of land, blight, danger and congestion in the circulation of people and commodities; to prevent the loss of life, health or property from fire, flood, or other dangers; to protect airports, highways, and other transportation facilities, public facilities, including schools and public grounds, historic districts, central districts, natural resources, and other specific areas of Daviess County which need special protection.
